Dr Nwankpa is a well-respected scholar with more than a decade experience working as an educator, researcher, consultant, and communicator. Dr Nwankpa has extensive experience studying counterterrorism and counterinsurgency strategies, advising relevant government development departments (such as DFID) and security agencies, and consulting for multilateral organisations on issues of conflict and development in Africa. Dr Nwankpa has a PhD in Sociology from the University of Roehampton, London, UK. He has held prestigious fellowships at Rice University (Baker Institute for Public Policy) and University of Maryland (National Consortium for the Study and Response to Terrorism) in the United States. He has delivered public lectures, talks and seminars at several national and international institutions including Oxford University, University of the Federal Armed Forces, Hamburg, Germany, and Rice University. He is the author of the well-received landmark book on Boko Haram, The Boko Haram Reader-finalist for the African Studies Association 2019 Paul Hair’s prize.
